Generative AI
Generative AI is transforming higher education, impacting the way we teach, the way students learn, and the broader society with which we and our students engage. At St. Kate's, we are committed to preparing faculty and staff to meet the challenges posed by AI and to ensure our students are prepared to lead an influence in an AI-infused world.
This site serves as a hub for information and resources related to AI at St. Kate's.

Generative AI Essentials for kAIties Course
This course provides St. Kate’s faculty and staff with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to engage with the increasingly prevalent role of AI in higher education. Participants will explore core concepts and functionality, including practical applications in administrative tasks, course development and execution, and student support, as well as ethical considerations and implications for teaching, research, and academic integrity.
The course is asynchronous and self-paced, and should take approximately 2-3 hours, depending on your background and prior experience with generative AI. You do not have to complete the course in one session.
AI in Teaching & Learning Workshops
This bi-weekly lunch-hour series is designed to help St. Kate’s faculty and staff explore AI’s impact on teaching, learning, and research.
Our goals are to:
- Demystify AI and its educational applications.
- Provide hands-on opportunities to experiment with AI tools.
- Explore teaching strategies that foster learning and critical thinking in the era of AI.
- Share concerns and practical solutions around academic integrity.
- Discuss how to prepare students for an AI-integrated future in their disciplines.
There is a companion Canvas site that provides information about past and future workshops, recordings, and many additional resources on AI in education. We recommend faculty self-enroll in the course to receive periodic announcements, emails, and participate in discussions.
St. Kate's Artificial Intelligence Advisory Group (AIAG)
The AIAG is a diverse team of faculty, staff, and students that aims to support the St. Kate’s community in exploring AI-driven enhancements for teaching, learning, and academic innovation. The AIAG group is organized into four specialized Task Forces focused on advancing key AI initiatives:
- Developing academic policies on AI
- Creating an AI training series
- Exploring academic and administrative AI tools
- Hosting AI-focused discussion roundtables

Turnitin - Generative AI Detector Training Course
This course, developed at St. Kate's, prepares you to use the Turnitin AI Detector tool effectively so you can interpret its results to avoid false accusations and respond appropriately to possible misconduct. The course is available as a resource to anyone at St. Kate's, but we also encourage programs and departments to consider enrolling and completing the course together to facilitate a common approach and set of policies regarding AI detection and academic dishonesty.
